The Waikato Hot Air Balloon Club was formed in 1993 to

promote the sporting, educational and safety aspects of

ballooning and to provide a training arena for all facets of ballooning.

The WHABC has progressed through the years where today the club owns 1 balloon, manufactured by Cameron Balloons in the UK. Many of our club members also own their own hot air balloons.

The WHABC meets on the first Wednesday evening of the month at 7.30pm. The secretary can advise the location. On the first Sunday following club night we have a club flying day where various activities may take place, this is usually held at Innes Common adjacent to the yacht club just after sunrise.

Every year club members get the opportunity to be involved with the Balloons Over Waikato fiesta. We have both club balloons flying and most of our members get to crew for various balloons located from both New Zealand and also from all over the world.

The Balloonists Prayer
May the winds welcome you with softness
May the sun bless you with his warm hands
May you fly so high and so well
that God joins you in laughter
and set’s you gently back into
the loving arms of mother earth.
